Response - To Lord Winston at the Imperial College London & Prof Daniel Dennett
Reading between the lines, all texts and in all stories of religion sounds like a creation of man, a creation of a man or a group of men, who, in regards to their intelligence, I would make the comparison to Einstein, or a group of Einstein’s that created religion - Einstein’s of Philosophy & Psychology, if you will.
I surmise that this group of men lived in a time that was fitting for their time, but they were not content with it, they probably were not at all the sort who would blindly accept the status quo and go about their lives and then much later die of any number of causes, and have their children do the same, onto an endless cycle.
My education Isn’t at all impressive, infact I wonder how I can understand much of what I think of and how can I truly comprehend what Lord Winston and Prof Dennett have spent alot of time pondering on.
In my humble opinion, I think Philosophy and Psychology are natural gifts, and the group of men who sat around camps and whom were not content with the cycle I described above had these natural gifts, and they would probably do what were doing, challenge the status quo, challenge the answers to the already answered questions. Not merely for the sake of it or for entertainment but to better the world, to dream of a better cycle of life for all.
The expressions that echo the sentiment of “One man can change the world” and many like it, probably came from men like these, men who created these systems to guide mankind onto the road where on now. I can just imagine it, a group of men, preaching the Religion but at the same time giving an indirect hint to the true intention of their preaching’s – One of the men would say to a particular adolescent, the above or something to that affect.
Religion, with the above in mind could be classified as a super philosophical and psychological product, that was developed to mature the intelligence of a growing species – perhaps this is the hidden agenda of religion, a hidden agenda that would require absolutely no record for the idea of religion itself to work.
We have developed so much in 2 millennia, we have established foundations for which societies like these (philosophical, etc) can grow without fear or prejudice and we have refined the rights of the one and many, and there is so much more that has been accomplished.
But its time to take the training wheels off, we no longer need this engine of maturity and common sense (religion) to remind us that stealing is wrong and murder is the end of your social life. The hypothesis of a “God” like symbol of an eternal who has powers beyond our imaginings is slowly being questioned and tested by the natural scientists of the world, and its these scientists whom have accomplished what the best scientist have not even begun to comprehend on how to begin.
The natural scientists are the children of every single generation, and with each succeeding generation that is born less and less believe, because true to the name of a scientist these natural ones test something, and when they test, they find no reaction, no sign that its affecting them or their surroundings in some way, this is the power of science.
Science - The result of the computer or medium of which enables you to look at this very sentence; Whilst your sitting there looking at the products of science - Science or Religion, you cannot beleive in one without disbelieving in another, remember God does not like the bystander, the person who does not act, but fear not!, Science is not as demanding, Science has the attitude - “This is the Universe, you either believe it or you don’t”.
In relation to the sentiment that “its all a test”. A God that would let us explore the spectrum of knowledge, from the Apple onward, who would knowingly lead us into a faith-test trap is a cruel God. Knowledge and faith are completely different, to mix the two is yet another fiction.
I will not argue for or against the arguments in regards to the “its harmful” “No, its not” debates of religion, but I will argue that the effects of religion must be kept out of all areas that do not directly relate to or effect religion itself or the peoples own rights in regards to the practising of the religion – but at the same time this right to practice cannot interfere with the rights of the non practising.
If indeed religion is a super philosophical and psychological product, that was created in a time when what we have now was needed back then, why are we letting this compromise decision and rationale at the levels of government today.
Religion is doing exactly what its designed to do, Its compromising decision making at the levels of government, this was a good thing years ago as it needed to happen, after all religion was designed for it.
Fast-forward to today and we still have this system, this highly organised system that is so out of touch and so incompatible with our world today that it is systematically reversing progress in areas. The rights of Abortion is no exception.
People who believe in religion, who want to believe, I say let them, we do not want to force anyone physically or intellectually to disbelieve just because we found high reason to believe otherwise. But we and the governments have a code of care over the populace, we cant just let the people believe in whatever anyone thinks of, but we cannot force them not to either.
As the rapid development of information sharing excels and evolves around the world so to will our knowledge, and in time more and more of the population will gain insight into the arguments that barely get enough of the media coverage that’s due, then through knowledge and the mediums at the common mans fingertips a new understanding will emerge, new and evolving debate, from all around the world that will open eyes and excite the senses.
Its our nature to stand up, to fall out of line, to argue, to fight and to actively reach up and say “that” instead of “this”, it will take time for people to come to their own conclusions - to the right and sensible conclusion, but they will eventually get there and they will have something that, if it had of been forced, they would not have, Understanding, and understanding a principle is the pinnacle of persuasion.
