Game: BiA Hells Highway

Well i've only played the Earned In Blood title before this one and it was the first game on the XBOX, and PC for that matter (other than Black) that i enjoyed so much that i could be sucked into finishing the entire game on all difficulties. I've got Hells Highway on my drive and since im already a fair way through the game i cant help but give it a nice score but as always ill point out the dislikes aswell as the likes but this time ill do it like this...

Likes:

Shooting feels so much better, shaking actually calms down after a lil bit and things stabilize

Familiar weapons that have been improved for ease of use and things are much more streamlined

A nice cover system that really dose what its supposed to do

Improved AI

Very Nice graphic detail

A rich and engaging story line, Ubisoft and Co have always managed to pull of an amazing story line that is just unmatched i think, very moving and very well explained, one of the very few WW2 FPS's that i will enjoy this year and in the years to come.

The Ability to jump in a Sherman and really do some damage, to literally go on a rampage in Hells Highway in a Sherman is fantastic, it feels more realistic (apart form inf ammo and fuel) in that a tank against a group of soldiers behind a sandbag aint gonna stop a shell from ripping them all a new arse! Whilst i felt they're brief I loved the tank missions!

Dislikes:

Sometimes my soldiers aren’t that smart but its improved dramatically from Earned In Blood

The US BAR doesn’t sound like it has much kick to it anymore, on EiB i used to enjoy running across a field to dive into cover behind a downed tree or a fence line all the while hearing that deep boom! boom! boom! from my BAR as im laying down additional suppressing fire.

Another weapons sound that seems to be off is the Springfield, i used to enjoy hearing it "ting" when out of ammo.. oh it still does that its just not as loud or as.. well not real, but appealing.

Shame there isnt a LAN Coop element to the game as it would have been so much fun not only campaign Coop but also tanks and all other sort of game play options, it would have been a classic for all time if this game had Coop, but since the single player is soo good im willing to overlook that :)

At the moment this is all i can think of but as you can see the likes heavily outweigh anything thats opposite and if you loved the previous two you will come to love this one, truly a fine trilogy Ubisoft and Co have tied off here, very well done!

Game: EA - Epic Assholes

This might be prompted by several buggy and what seems to be, rushed releases in the past few months that i've purchased by EA but still im going to bitch because i can!

EA are driving me up the wall!, BF2142, Red Alert, Tiberium Wars, NFS Pro Street just to name a few games that i have faithfully bought because i belive in supproting the people who actually do the wor, to find out everyitme after install that there is some sort of thing wrong with it.. this is absolutoley insane! EA are a mass media giant not to mention what seem to be the next Microsoft in terms of take over and buying power and all these thigns are fueled by the fact that their investors love money (cant blame them really) and so we the gamers have to suffer as EA make deadlines that cut potential bug testing hours/days/months to shreds as their developers scramble to meet these deadlines and release the games that are under developed, under tested or worse.

Mercenaries 2 was a fantastic game! but it was, i wouolndt say riddled but had its fair share of bugs and it seemed that the vehicles where skinned better than the terrain and buildings... Pandemic is a fantastic developer and i fully support their games but now that they are associated/owned by EA, EA will no doubt want something released by whenever and this to me is frustrating because it means that anyone under EA (not just Pandemic) are going to release games that have bugs (that could have been fix prior to release) and perhasp even lacking in material/media all because EA want the game released by a certain date!

Whats that saying "you cant rush art" this is the philosophy Activision-Blizzard have taken (or rather Blizzard.. well we'll see about Activision soon enough) and they have consitantly release games that have rich and fluid content accompanyed by a significantly less bug ridden game mechanic compared to EA.

You'd think that this would be enough for people to boycott EA altogether and go elsewhere, i mean afterall at 70 - 100 dollars AUS these games arent exaclty cheap!... well some are and some like me arent, why? well EA have some impressive and tempting titles under their belts and i think no matter what kind of job they do they are going to make sure that they keep these titles so they have some leverage over the competition, not to mention leverage over the consumer... so we can piss and moan all we want but in the end they have the titles and we the consumer have to decided whether or not we want to play them.

One more thing, i bet no one who is currently investing in EA on the markets is a gamer!

Game: Red Alert 3 - First Impressions

Well after waiting for what seemed like 2 seconds compared with the wait for StarCraft 2 i finally purchased Red Alert 3 off Ebay for around 77 bucks AUS, and as soon as it arrived at the front door i ripped open the packaging and immediately started the install program.

I loved the cinematic and the music ect, very nice very red alert-ish but i cant get over how buggy the gameplay and tutorials are... now im not sure if its just me (and i havent even bothered to find a fix) but the voices are there but not there, and the game looks too much like Tiberium Wars of which i was a bit dissapointed in but nonetheless its a good game but im afraid like Tiberium Wars im not going to be playing it online or LAN anytime soon (my friends didnt take to much liking to it either)
In a nutshell, dont get me wrong its a good game but there is something that its lacking.. perhaps originality i dont know; love the water! i mean you cant go wrong with that and at least they added some sort of Naval element to the which seems to be lacking in other RTS games with the exception of AOE3.
